FAQ
Once the ink has been depleted in a Canon printer, inserting the same cartridge will trigger an error.
To reset this counter, please follow the following steps:
1) Find the feed or stop/reset button on your printer
2) Hold this button for 5 seconds
3) Release and the reset counter should be overridden
Sometimes the printhead can become clogged if you refill a cartridge that has been left empty for some time. If you have not purchased our printhead cleaner, please refer to the following instructions to unclog the printhead.
1) Prepare a container with warm water (preferably filtered through reverse osmosis or distilled, though tap water will work).
2) The bottom of the cartridge (~1 cm) should be submerged into the water for around 5-7 seconds to loosen any residue on the printhead. Refrain from submerging the entire cartridge to prevent damage to either the circuitry or through water intrusion.
3) Remove the cartridge from the water and dab any excess ink from the bottom lightly with a soft cotton cloth. A paper towel may scratch the printhead and is not recommended.
4) Inject an additional 1cc of ink into the cartridge. (Note: If this is a color or photo cartridge, the colors must be injected individually into their respective location as stated in the instruction manual)
5) Dab any excess ink from the bottom of the cartridge with a soft cloth.
6) Insert the cartridge back into the printer and perform a test print. Sometimes it may take a few hours before you will notice any improvements. If you do not notice any improvements in the print quality after a few hours, peel the identification label completely off the top of the cartridge and insert it back into the printer as the cartridge may contain air bubbles within the sponge. Allow the cartridge to rest before continuing to print any test pages.
